FAQs
How do I make a reservation?
Send us an email at bearspawcatboarding@gmail.com to get things started. Please include the following:
- cat’s name(s)
- check-in and check-out dates (please note our availability and request dates accordingly)
- phone number
- medication details
- FVRCP (vaccination) details
We recommend that you check with us as soon as you know your vacation dates to avoid disappointment. We require a minimum stay of three nights, which may increase during our peak seasons; June 15 to September 30, and December 15 to January 15. Although we don't require a deposit, please let us know as soon as possible if your dates change.
Are vaccinations required?
We require proof of vaccination against the basic airborne and upper respiratory diseases within the previous 12 months. Vaccination protocols are under discussion in Vet circles, and there's a growing consensus that booster shots are required less frequently, unless the cat is being boarded. If your Vet feels that your cat does not require yearly vaccinations, we will accept a letter from them stating that, in their opinion, your cat's shots are current for boarding, and the date they will require a booster.
Since we do not allow cats from different families to mix we do not require the Rabies or Feline Leukemia shots.
What if my cat requires medication or special treatment?
All medications and treatments must be discussed and approved in advance. Additional charges may apply.
What should I bring?
We have found it is best for our guests to keep exactly the same diet as they are used to; so you should bring enough food for your cat's entire stay. Please note that if you have more than one cat and it's vital for medication or dietary reasons that they don't share food, then a separate room must be booked.
Each room at Bearspaw Cat Boarding comes supplied with clean bedding, litter box and litter, bowls for food and water and toys. If you would like to bring a small and washable item; such as a favorite bed, toy or article of clothing... please feel free to do so.
Bring proof of vaccination as described in the “Vaccinations” section below
We will ask you for an emergency contact phone number, either where you will be, or someone we can contact in the Calgary or Cochrane area.
It is important that you transport your cat safely, in a secure carrier. For your convenience, you can leave your carrier with us.
And, oh yes, remember to BRING YOUR CAT!!
When is Check-in and Check-out?
At Bearspaw Cat Boarding our check-in and check-out times are by appointment and are arranged with each booking to be within these hours:
Weeknights (Mon-Fri) 5:00 - 7:00 pm
Weekends (Sat-Sun) 9:00 - 11:00 am

What if my cat needs Veterinary Services while at Bearspaw Cat Boarding?
In the highly unlikely event that your cat requires the services of a Vet, we will attempt to contact you and/or your emergency contact before we take your cat in to a Calgary or Cochrane Vet. However, if we can't contact you quickly, we will take your cat in and contact you later. Rest assured that we will do whatever we can to insure your cat is properly cared for. Vet services will be billed to you exactly as they are billed to us, with an additional nominal transport fee.
